Canyon Vista Elementary School Walk for Water Walkathon
Canyon Vista Elementary School hosted a "Walk for Water" walkathon on April 24, 2015 to raise money to help fund a well in Uganda. Students in grades 1-5 walked around the school's field with Jerry cans filled with some water and milk jugs filled with water so they'd have a better understanding of what it was like for women and children who walk to get water on a daily basis. All throughout the month of April, students were also encouraged to donate money in Wells of Life bottles that were in each classroom. The students at Canyon Vista raised $2500.00 from the water bottle fundraiser and the walkathon! Fifth grade student Aidan Fraiser, who participated in the Wells of Life walkathon at Santa Margarita earlier in the year and in the Canyon Vista walkathon, said, "It makes me feel good to help people who don't have clean water." The students at Canyon Vista were proud of their efforts to raise money for Wells of Life. Next year, they hope to raise enough money to build a well in Uganda!
