This month's Donor of the Month highlights Matt & Susan Heffron, who donated well #197 in 2016 and #271 in 2017, both as part of the Run4Water. Here is their story:
In October 2015, I (Matt) first heard Pete Callahan speak about Wells of Life. A few weeks after that, I felt God calling me to get involved with this life-saving work. I met with Pete and Nick and soon after Susan and I started on funding our first well. We donated it in honor of Susan's mother who had passed away earlier that year. We’ve had fun participating in the Wells of Life Run4Water 5K the past two years. Thanks in part to the generous support of our family and friends, we’re now working on funding our third well. It has been great to work with Nick and Pete and the whole Wells of Life team. They have been very encouraging, supportive, and open to our ideas.
Before getting involved with Wells of Life, we had no idea that the need was so great to provide clean water for so many people around the world. In California we've been hearing how we are in a "water crisis". But we're not! We are in a "water inconvenience." The people in rural Uganda are in a true "water crisis". When we don't get “enough” water, our lawns die. When they don't get enough, their children die!
We appreciate that with Wells of Life, we know exactly where our donations are going – directly to funding a well! And we find great joy in knowing that our efforts can make such a huge difference in the life and health of the whole community that receives that well.
Thank you Matt & Susan. Without dedicated people such as yourselves Wells of Life couldn't make the impact in Uganda that we're making together.
