I continue to be in a state of great joy after hearing the reports from District Leadership confirming the superiority of the work of WOL in their domains. As reported, we are considered the best NGO in their districts. This statement says a lot for Adrian and his country leadership, along with the vision of the support team in the USA.
Today we spent the morning and early afternoon doing WASH exercises in sample villages. I was able to see first hand the power of the WASH protocol. I learned two things from the lecturer this morning: (1) The WASH worker needs to gradually become invisible so we can insure sustainability of the program. That way, community members take responsibility and do not rely on the aid of WOL for public sanitation and health.
The second thing he taught was an acronym on the word “poor”: “Passing Over Opportunities Regularly.” Author, Henry. This is certainly something for all of us to consider regularly.
